Don’t judge a book by its cover – but this picture is a faire representation of the book.
Note the colored toenails.
disclaimer: I don’t usually enjoy books where ‘she lost boyfriend, found new boyfriend, her life is fulfilled’, but I do very much love the Renaissance Faire – so I picked up the book.
Rowena’s boyfriend dumped her for the girl he was cheating with so she looks for a job far from home – painting faces at the RenFaire. She likes painting for years, makes new friends, and re-thinks her life.
So, pretty standard plot, but Wettersen created well-drawn and realistic characters, honest and cheaters, friends who take sides, friends who are honest when Rowena just wants support, and a contrasting set of parents.
And the RenFaire was a character all on its own.
Fun book. I look forward to her next novel.
