The Sandman, Vol. 9: The Kindly Ones by Neil Gaiman

The Sandman, Vol. 9: The Kindly OnesVarious issues from previous stories are rolled up into one glorious revenge story.

Someone loses touch with reality.
Someone else claims to BE reality.
Children die, only not.
Dead children must be avenged.
Revenge is not what you thought it was.
Revenge is not stoppable once it is started.
True love is not what you thought it was.
True love cannot be stopped even if it is not returned.
In Dreamland, nothing is permanent.
Death is pretty permanent, most of the time.

People can angst themselves to death.
Artwork of death can be beautiful
Especially when Death is Dream’s big sister.
I never saw this ending coming.
I had to read the book twice just to see how different it looked
after the big hand-holding scene.
Oh wow.
