Dreamwalker by C.S. Friedman

Dreamwalker (Dreamwalker, #1)
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cool dreams inspire Jessica’s art.
Cool art inspires kidnappers and arsonists? Yikes.

Jessica’s jerk dad inspires a DNA test, and the results are – weirder than weird. And people with just such weird results are being killed in beautifully orchestrated accidents, so Jess and her 2 new friends have to run… And they run to another world.

Adventures ensue.
* The crystals are amazing. I’m so glad the shiny crystals on the cover are actually in the book!
* Is it really shape-shifting when someone takes possession of an animal’s body? (rats make great spies)
* Jessica’s passionate speech about “family above all” has interesting results when the culture is so different. 🙂

The sequel is already published, and is currently on my to-read list.
