A Week of (Cozy) Mysteries

What turns a mystery into a ‘cozy’, anyway? Less violence initiated by Our Hero? A detective who only detects on the side? A female detective?
Dick Francis wrote books that would be cozies, if that includes male non-detectives.

Buried in Bargains (Good Buy Girls, #3)Buried in Bargains by Josie Belle

All Sales Final (Good Buy Girls #5)All Sales Final by Josie Belle

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Middle aged small business owners out for a bargain. I like this theme!
The main character ensemble are well rounded, the ‘enemy’ is fun to hate, the mystery is well put together.
Surprisingly, an old enemy becomes… an ally?

Fun books, looking for the rest of the series.

Cockatiels at Seven (Meg Langslow, #9)Cockatiels at Seven by Donna Andrews

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Meg Langslow, lady blacksmith.
Well, she starts the book as a blacksmith and ends up as Organizer in Chief not only for her family but the town. Meg’s old classmate who she hasn’t seen in ages drops a toddler off ‘for a while’ and never comes back, so what’s up with that?

Meg’s family is, um, eccentric. Single minded. Goal oriented. And they achieve their goals in some hilarious ways.

Meet some computer coders who are nervous to meet Meg for a surprising reason.

Not the best of the series, but if you’re reading to ‘meet the old gang again’ it’s not that bad.
Hm, that’s not really a ringing endorsement, is it?
It would be 2 star, but the supporting staff is fun even when Goldy runs around like an idiot.

The Whole Enchilada (A Goldy Schulz Culinary Mystery, #17)The Whole Enchilada by Diane Mott Davidson

Dire Threads by Janet BoDire Threads.jpglan

3 of 5 stars.

Nice mystery.  Ensemble cast is fun.

The bad guys are not necessarily the murderers.
